Our Day Trips & Weekend Breaks

Participants are either met from home or designated meeting points; support is provided on a person-centred basis.  Our aim is to offer clients life opportunities, building on existing and new skills, choices, and social participation with the support of the caring and experienced Buzz Club team.  On our Weekend Breaks, Participants will be met from home.

Health Walks

Walking benefits mental well-being. It regularly improves strength, endurance, flexibility, overall fitness, balance, coordination, confidence in movement skills, improves mood, helps improve sleep, increases energy levels, better lung function, increases immune system efficacy, walking helps with weight management.

Regular walking is good for your heart. It helps to improve your circulation and decreases blood pressure. As well as lowering blood pressure, walking can also lower cholesterol levels.

Walking Can Make the Body Stronger

If you are walking regularly, your body and muscles become stronger.

When your muscles are stronger, this protects your bones and makes them stronger.  As we get older our bones can become weak, so this is a great way to keep them strong.


There are many benefits of walking that include strengthening bones, reducing chronic pain, increasing flexibility, preventing back problems and osteoporosis, improving cholesterol levels, and lowering the risk of coronary heart disease while strengthening muscles in your hips and thighs to provide support. Safety When Walking

 To ensure your safety while walking, follow these tips:

  • Walk in areas designated for pedestrians. Look for well-lit areas if possible.
  • If you walk in the evening or early morning hours, wear a reflective vest or light so cars can see you.
  • Wear good sturdy shoes that are comfortable with good heel and arch support.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
  • Drink plenty of water before and after your walk to stay hydrated.
  • Wear sunscreen to prevent sunburn, even on cloudy days
  • Stop for rests when you need to
