Our Music Matters sessions bring people together to enjoy music in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming environment
Originally developed for adults with learning disabilities, our sessions welcome people with different abilities who enjoy making music and spending time together.
There’s no need for any musical experience.
It's simply about joining in, having fun and make new friends.
Singing & Favourite Songs
From golden oldies and familiar classics to favourite pop songs, everyone is encouraged to sing along, choose their favourite music or simply enjoy listening.
There’s often plenty of laughter, dancing and enthusiastic singing along the way!
Percussion & Music Making
Enjoy making music together using tambourines, shakers, maracas, drums and other simple percussion instruments.
Members can choose their favourite instruments, play along to familiar songs, explore different sounds and rhythms, or simply enjoy making a little noise together!
Drumming for Fun
Our drumming sessions offer an opportunity to enjoy simple rhythms, experiment with different beats and make music as a group.
There’s no pressure to follow complicated patterns or get everything right. Everyone can join in at their own pace and enjoy the shared experience of drumming together.
Music, Movement & Dance
For those who enjoy moving to music, there’s always an opportunity to dance, sway, clap or move along to favourite songs.
Whether standing, seated or simply tapping along to the rhythm, everyone is encouraged to participate in whatever way feels comfortable.
Our Music Matters sessions run for three hours, offering plenty of time to enjoy music, singing, dancing and making music together.
Tea and refreshments are available throughout the session, with opportunities to take a break, have a chat and enjoy the company of others.
The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, with everyone encouraged to join in at their own pace.
One of the most important parts of Music Matters is the friendships and social connections that develop through our sessions.
They’re an opportunity to meet familiar faces, make new friends, share laughter, build confidence and feel part of a group.
There’s time to chat, enjoy each other’s company and simply have a good time.
At Music Matters, it’s not about musical ability or performance. It’s about enjoying music together, having fun and feeling part of something.

Clever Cookies is our friendly, hands-on cookery group, bringing people together to learn practical cooking skills, explore different foods and enjoy preparing delicious meals together.
Planning & Choosing Our Meals
Members take turns deciding what they’d like to cook the following week, encouraging choice, independence, decision-making and teamwork.
Together, we plan our meals, choose recipes and shop for the ingredients we’ll need.
Preparing, Cooking & Enjoying
Everyone is encouraged to get involved in preparing and cooking our meals, from washing and chopping vegetables to measuring, mixing and following recipes.
We also learn about kitchen hygiene and food safety, including handwashing, wearing aprons, keeping our work areas clean and using kitchen equipment safely.
Once our meal is ready, we sit down together to enjoy what we’ve created!
We recognise that everyone has different abilities, experience and confidence in the kitchen.
Individual risk assessments help us identify appropriate activities and levels of support, ensuring members can participate safely and as independently as possible.
One-to-one support can also be provided where needed.
There’s plenty of fun beyond the cooking itself!
We enjoy food-related games, quizzes, flashcards and group discussions, exploring ingredients, favourite dishes and foods from different countries and cultures.
These activities encourage communication, curiosity, learning and social interaction in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Clever Cookies is about much more than preparing a meal. It’s an opportunity to develop everyday life skills, build confidence and self-esteem, encourage independence, make choices and enjoy a sense of achievement.
And, of course, there’s the pleasure of sharing a delicious meal with friends!

Our Life Skills sessions offer a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment where people can come together to explore everyday life, share experiences, develop confidence and learn useful skills.
Through group discussions, practical activities, games and everyday scenarios, we explore topics that matter to us all, from friendships and relationships to managing money, making choices and looking after our wellbeing.
Everyone brings their own experiences, ideas and abilities to the group. Our sessions encourage participation, independence and personal development, while providing plenty of opportunities for conversation, friendship and laughter.
We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to develop their skills, make their own choices and live as independently and confidently as possible.
Our Life Skills sessions are designed to support people with learning disabilities, while also welcoming others who wish to take part, in developing practical everyday skills, building on their existing abilities and exploring new opportunities for personal growth.
We believe that empowering individuals with the skills, confidence and support they need helps create equal life opportunities for everyone.
Through discussion, shared experiences and realistic everyday scenarios, we encourage individuals to think about the choices they make, develop problem-solving skills and gain greater confidence in managing different aspects of daily life.
Developing life skills can open doors to greater independence, stronger relationships, increased confidence and more opportunities to participate in everyday life.
Most importantly, we recognise that everyone has their own abilities, ambitions and personal goals. Our aim is to support each individual in achieving what matters to them.

Our three hour sessions take place in a friendly, welcoming group environment where everyone is encouraged to participate at their own pace.
We begin by welcoming everyone and enjoying a cup of tea, coffee, or soft drinks, giving group members an opportunity to catch up, share news and settle in.
Each session explores different aspects of everyday life through a mixture of group discussions, practical activities, games and realistic scenarios.
There are opportunities to ask questions, share personal experiences, express opinions and learn from one another. Nobody is expected to speak or participate in an activity unless they feel comfortable doing so.
Our sessions are flexible and shaped around the interests, abilities and needs of the people attending. Where appropriate, individuals can also discuss personal concerns or questions privately with a staff member.
All activities and discussions take place at our venue, in a relaxed and supportive setting.
